Introduction
The Real-Time Environmental Information Network and Analysis System(REINAS) supports regional-scale environmental science, monitoring, andforecasting through a distributed system connected by the Internet.
With REINAS, environmental scientists have the ability toobserve, monitor, and analyze regional oceanographic and meteorologicalphenomena from their desk top.
REINAS was designed to serve different user groups:
- operational forecasters, who monitor and react to conditions in real-time using standard data products;
- modelers, who analyze current and historical data to better understand past, present, and future conditions;
- experimental scientists, who collaborate with other scientists on-line, observing and interacting with data as it is collected;
- the general public, who use real-time and historical measurements to their recreational or commercial advantage, as well as their own general interest.
